WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN
ISR LESSONS EXPLAINED
WHAT WILL YOUR CHILD LEARN?
ISR will give your child the competence, confidence, and skills of aquatic safety with the ISR Self-Rescue™ program, the safest provider of swimming lessons for infants and young children, starting at 6 months old.
At Water Monsters, we first focus on teaching survival swimming skills, emphasizing ISR Self-Rescue™ techniques. Traditional lessons often focus on playing and slowly getting used to the water and may not prioritize water safety. We want your little ones to have a monstrously good time, but we see competence and safety as the path towards a lifelong respect and love for the water.

In just 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 6 weeks, we teach your little ones how to be safe in and around the water.
WHAT MAKES ISR DIFFERENT?
Rollback-to-Float
Infants to Early Walkers
Starting at 6 months old, we teach your baby to independently turn themselves onto their back if ever face down in the water. Your little water monster will learn to safely breathe, rest, and float on their back until help arrives.
Swimmers perform these survival swimming skills first in a swimsuit, then while fully clothed.
Swim-Float-Swim
Independent Walkers
This program teaches your child to hold their breath and swim underwater with eyes open like a real monster of the deep! They will learn to roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe, then flip over to resume swimming.
Children are taught to repeat this swim-float-swim sequence until they reach the side of the pool, the steps, or are rescued by an adult. Swimmers perform these survival swimming skills first in a swimsuit, then while fully clothed.

Once your child has completed their six-week program, continuing to practice their self-rescue skills is important. At Water Monsters, we offer two options for continued skill maintenance:

Maintenance lessons help swimmers maintain their skills and confidence throughout the year. These are once a week lessons schedulued during future 6 week sessions.

As children grow, their skills will need to be adjusted to their new height and weight.
Refresher lessons are suggested every three to six months after swimmers have completed their initial ISR lessons. They are scheduled for one to three weeks at a time, depending on the instructor’s recommendation.

Our lesson routines are the same every day. While daily swim lessons can initially feel daunting, water monsters and their families quickly settle into the routine.

Trying something new can be challenging for all of us, especially when we first start. Parents are encouraged to watch lessons closely and encourage their little ones with positive language throughout the lessons. We can do hard things!

This will give you enough time to make your way to the pool, settle in, and prepare for lessons.

Swimmers who are not fully potty-trained are required to wear two non-disposable swim diapers during every lesson. Students should also bring three towels for the side of the pool and for drying off afterward.

I will walk you through a daily check-in on your child’s health and routine. You’ll be asked about their sleep, energy levels, bathroom habits, and recent food intake to ensure they are ready for each lesson.
